University of Turku

University of Turku, the Faculty of Education consists of the Department of Education, located in Turku, and the Department of Teacher Education, which has functions in Turku and in Rauma. Both units of the Department of Teacher Education have an affiliated teacher training school.

The Department provides a theory- embedded, discipline- based education of high quality with the ultimate goal of educating future teachers whose personal educational philosophy consists of a solid theoretical foundation, rigorous expertise, resourcefulness and critical reflection skills necessary for continued success and development in the teaching profession and in the teaching community. Throughout university education, personal development is encouraged, communications skills and active learning skills are fostered.

There are over 700 students in Rauma unit in different study programs (early childhood education, primary school education, craft and art education and special need education).
