In 2015 Bath Spa University will celebrate over 160 years as an educational institution and ten years as a university. Our Vision and Strategy for 2015 show we intend to expand our educational offerings and develop research in our areas of key strength. Building on our distinctive reputation, we plan to internationalise the University, introducing global perspectives to our curriculum and opening our programmes to an increasingly international student body. Based in a world heritage city and connected to a network of international partners, Bath Spa University will ensure that its graduates are socially engaged global citizens. Bath Spa University embeds international perspectives into the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum with the intention to enhance students’ global awareness through programme pathways, international placements and study abroad opportunities. We enhance training opportunities, student support, information and resources to enable students and staff to meet the challenges and opportunities of internationalisation. Our location in the world heritage city of Bath provides the backdrop for delivery of outstanding academic programmes in creativity, culture, enterprise and education.

 

The School of Education

 

The School of Education at Bath Spa University is one of the largest providers of education in the South West. The School of Education has received a resounding endorsement for its Teacher Education programmes from the quality regulator Ofsted.  Following a week-long inspection by 17 Ofsted inspectors the University has been graded as ‘outstanding’ in all three of its programmes leading to qualified teacher status in primary, secondary and further education. The rarely achieved ‘straight Grade 1’ accolade for overall effectiveness in all three programmes has only been afforded to one other teacher education provider, and on these measures Bath Spa is not only the best teacher training university in the South West, but among the very best in the country.
